WhiteBoard is designed as a local-first creative and teaching tool. We respect your privacy and do NOT collect, harvest, or sell any personal information.
Tech2Nine ("we", "our", or "us") built the WhiteBoard application (package name: com.tech2nine.whiteboard) as a modern digital whiteboard for drawing, teaching, note-taking, and presentation. By installing or using WhiteBoard, you agree to the privacy practices outlined in this policy.
Zero Personal Data Harvesting: WhiteBoard does NOT require user account creation, registration, or login. All drawings, notes, equations, and lesson recordings stay 100% on your local device. We never sell, rent, or monetize your creative or educational work.
The core drawing, canvas tools, shapes, ruler, math formulas, science stickers, and PDF export features work completely offline without an internet connection. An internet connection is used only for loading advertisements (on the free tier), remote feature configuration flags, Google Cast streaming, and the optional Web Image Search feature.
2. No Personal Information Collected
WhiteBoard, by itself, does NOT collect, ask for, or store any personally identifiable information (PII). Specifically:
No User Accounts: You do not need to sign up, sign in, or provide an email address, password, or username to use WhiteBoard.
No Personal Contact Data: We do not access or collect your real name, phone number, address, contacts, or phonebook.
No Biometric Extraction: While the App supports an optional Biometric Lock to secure private boards, biometric authentication is handled solely by Android's hardware security module (BiometricPrompt). The App never sees, accesses, or stores biometric data.
No Location Tracking: The App does not request or track precise GPS location.
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
All content you create inside WhiteBoard is stored exclusively on your device using Android's private app sandbox, Room database, and Jetpack DataStore:
Whiteboard pages, drawings, vector stroke coordinates, colors, and layers.
Inserted geometric shapes, LaTeX math formulas, tables, and STEM science stickers.
Recorded lesson videos (stored in your device's local Movies/WhiteBoard/ folder).
None of this content is uploaded or transmitted to Tech2Nine servers.
4. Device Permissions & Prominent Disclosures
In accordance with Google Play's Prominent Disclosure and User Consent Policy, WhiteBoard requests only the permissions strictly necessary to deliver user-initiated features:
Permission
Why It Is Needed
User Control & Behavior
CAMERA
Used strictly for user-triggered camera snapshots to insert photos into whiteboard pages, OCR note scanning, and optional floating face PIP preview during lesson video recordings.
Optional. Never triggered in the background. The app functions fully on devices without a camera.
RECORD_AUDIO
Used strictly to capture user voice commentary when explicitly starting a lesson screen recording.
Optional. Can be muted or disabled inside the recorder control bar. Never runs silently.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROJECTION
Allows recording whiteboard demonstration videos (MP4) and broadcasting screen live to external displays or local Wi-Fi.
Requires explicit Android system confirmation prompt and shows a persistent status bar notification while active.
Android Photo Picker READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below)
Enables importing photos or PDF slides onto the whiteboard and saving exported drawings/videos to device storage. On Android 13+, the app uses the official Android Photo Picker without requiring broad media permissions.
Scoped access. Uses Android's system photo picker; the app accesses only files explicitly chosen by the user.
INTERNET ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Loads non-intrusive sponsor ads via AdMob (free tier), queries remote tool feature flags via Supabase, and performs optional Web Image Searches.
Core drawing and saving work 100% offline.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
Enables peer-to-peer screen projection to smart TVs via Google Cast and local network screen sharing.
Operates strictly on the user's local Wi-Fi network without cloud relay.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Displays the lesson recording control bar, pause/stop controls, and export progress notifications.
Standard notification control.
VIBRATE
Provides subtle tactile haptic feedback when drawing strokes, snapping ruler angles, or selecting tools.
Can be toggled off at any time in WhiteBoard Settings.
USE_BIOMETRIC
Allows users to optionally lock private boards using fingerprint or facial recognition.
Optional. Handled entirely by Android BiometricPrompt hardware.
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID
Declared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for ad serving, frequency capping, and fraud prevention on Android 13+.
Users can reset or delete their Advertising ID in Android Settings > Google > Ads.
5. Screen Recording & Foreground Service Disclosure
WhiteBoard includes an integrated Lesson Recorder Studio:
Explicit User Activation: Screen recording and presentation casting NEVER activate silently. They start only when you explicitly tap the Record or Cast button.
Android System Consent: Before recording begins, Android displays an official system-level dialog stating that WhiteBoard will capture your screen.
Persistent Notification: During recording, a persistent Android notification is always visible in your notification shade, allowing you to pause or stop recording at any moment.
Local Storage: Recorded MP4 lesson videos are saved directly to your device's Movies/WhiteBoard/ directory. They are never uploaded to any remote server.
6. On-Device AI & Machine Learning (ML Kit)
WhiteBoard utilizes Google Play Services ML Kit for on-device intelligent features:
Smart Draw & Digital Ink Recognition: Automatically cleans rough hand-drawn circles, ellipses, triangles, and arrows into crisp geometric vectors.
OCR Text Recognition: Extracts editable text from camera snapshots or image files of notes.
100% On-Device Processing: All ML Kit models execute entirely locally on your Android device hardware. No photos, camera frames, handwriting strokes, or converted text are sent to external servers or used for machine learning training.
7. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App integrates the following Google and infrastructure services. Each is governed by its respective privacy policy:
Google AdMob (Google LLC): Used to serve banner and interstitial advertisements for users on the free tier. AdMob may collect device model, OS version, approximate location (IP-based), and advertising identifiers for ad measurement and fraud prevention. Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play In-App Billing: Processes optional WhiteBoard Pro upgrades securely. Tech2Nine never receives, processes, or stores your payment card details, UPI IDs, or banking credentials. Google Play Terms.
Google Play Services & Cast SDK: Powers local wireless screen casting to smart TVs and displays.
Supabase: Used solely for remote feature flag synchronization (e.g., enabling/disabling app tools globally) and verifying anonymous purchase entitlements. No personal user data is stored. Supabase Privacy Policy.
No Invasive Analytics: WhiteBoard does NOT integrate Facebook SDK, invasive user tracking brokers, or behavioral spyware.
8. Optional Web Image Search (Wikimedia Commons)
WhiteBoard includes an optional Web Image Search feature that enables you to search for freely-licensed educational images and insert them into your board:
Data Transmitted: Only the search query text you type is sent over HTTPS to the public Wikimedia Commons API. No personal identity, user accounts, device identifiers, or location data are sent with the request.
Attribution & Storage: Downloaded images and thumbnail previews are saved locally onto your whiteboard canvas. They are not uploaded to our servers.
This feature is completely optional and activates only when you explicitly open "Web Image" and perform a search. Wikimedia Privacy Policy.
9. Google Play In-App Review API
The App uses the official Google Play In-App Review API to occasionally invite users to rate the App on the Google Play Store. The review dialog is rendered and processed entirely by Google Play Services. Tech2Nine does not access, collect, or store your rating or review.
10. Users in the EEA, UK & California (GDPR & CCPA)
A. EEA & UK Users (GDPR)
In the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, advertisements are served in compliance with Google's EU User Consent Policy. On initial launch, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) displays a consent dialog allowing you to choose whether to accept personalized or non-personalized ads.
You can withdraw or change your ad consent at any time by clearing app data in Android Settings > Apps > WhiteBoard > Storage > Clear Data, which re-prompts the consent dialog on the next launch.
B. California Users (CCPA / CPRA)
We do NOT "sell" or "share" personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). AdMob's data practices for California users comply with Google's restricted data processing terms.
11. In-App Purchases (WhiteBoard Pro)
WhiteBoard offers an optional premium subscription called WhiteBoard Pro (₹49/year or local equivalent):
Google Play Billing: All transactions are handled directly through Google Play Billing. We never collect or store any credit card, debit card, UPI, or financial credentials.
Pro Benefits: Removes all advertisements, unlocks unlimited version snapshots, and enables advanced studio tools.
Cancellation: You can manage or cancel auto-renewal at any time via Google Play Store > Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.

12. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Families Policy)
WhiteBoard is designed as a creative and educational sketching tool suitable for general audiences, students, teachers, and children:
We do NOT knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Union).
There are no public chat rooms, social networking features, or public profiles in WhiteBoard.
If a parent or guardian discovers that any personal information was unintentionally submitted, please contact us at tech2nine.dev@gmail.com and we will take immediate steps to remove it.
13. Data Retention & User Data Deletion Policy
In accordance with Google Play's mandatory User Data Deletion policies:
How to Delete Your Data Instantly:
Delete Individual Boards: In WhiteBoard, open the History or Boards tab, tap on any whiteboard, and tap Delete. This immediately deletes the drawing and undo history from local storage.
Complete Data Reset: Go to your Android device Settings > Apps > WhiteBoard > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Data. This permanently wipes all boards, local settings, templates, and cached files from your device.
Uninstalling the App: Uninstalling WhiteBoard removes all local sandbox databases and drawing files.
Server Verification Data Deletion: If you wish to request deletion of any cached diagnostic or purchase verification records linked to your device identifier, email us at tech2nine.dev@gmail.com with your device details. We will process and confirm deletion within 30 days.
14. Data Security & Offline Operation
WhiteBoard protects your data using industry-standard measures:
App Sandbox Protection: Your drawings are stored in Android's protected private storage area, inaccessible to other apps without your explicit export.
Encrypted Transport: All network traffic (such as remote configuration checks) is strictly encrypted via HTTPS/TLS 1.3.
Android Share Sheet: Sharing drawings to external apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Drive, Gmail) uses Android's secure FileProvider with temporary, revocable URI permissions. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external third-party apps once shared.
